Stretching your Shoes with Ice: It Really Works!

May 3, 2010

So, referring back to one of my blog posts in August, I included a link to an instructional video on how to stretch your shoes with ice. Well, I have finally gotten around to trying it out.

One of my co-workers had a pair of shoes she needed stretched out, so it began… Below are the steps we used…

Insert a water-filled bag into shoe

Again, insert a water-filled bag into the other shoe

Before putting the shoes into the freezer, put them in a bag.

Place the shoes in the freezer for a couple hours (until the ice freezes)

Remove the ice

The shoes. Fit perfectly!

10 Rules for the True Shoe Addicts

April 27, 2010

10. Treat the shoe as you would like to be treated-don’t let others walk over them.

9. If someone is wearing awesome shoes tell them. Even if you don’t know them. That is a sure way to put a smile on someone’s face.

8. If you can’t walk properly don’t wear them in public. Master them at home first.

7. You can never buy heels that are too high. The bigger the better!

6. Platforms are your friends. Especially the hidden ones.

5. Toe cleavage is a must-but not too much; that’s just trashy.

4. Wear shoes that are conversation starters whether it be a bold colour, funky pattern or unique cut.

3. Plan your outfit around your shoes.

2. Comfort vs. Fashion: Fashion always wins. Comfort is a bonus.

1. Work them! Any shoe can be hot if worn with the right outfit and worn with confidence.

Let me introduce you to Miz Mooz shoes.

March 20, 2010

So,  I’d like to apologize to those of you who have been anxiously awaiting a new post. But the other day I got excited about the latest pair of shoes I bought and want to share my love for this shoe brand I just discovered-Miz Mooz.

The name of the brand actually caught my eye because my youngest sister was nicknamed Miss Moo when she was very young. Where she got the nickname; I’m not quite sure.

Back to the shoes. They are one of the most comfortable shoes I have ever had on my feet. Because I had not heard of this brand before I had to do a little research about the company and what it is all about.

The company started as a boutique line in NY and is now sold in a variety of stores, including John David Shoes (where I bought them) The unique thing about these shoes is that they are all hand crafted.

Take the time to check out their awesome website. www.miz-mooz.com

Toe Cleavage: Yay or Nay?

July 31, 2009

definitionI was recently asked about my thoughts on toe cleavage. I had not really stopped to think about it before—but after I was asked, I couldn’t stop checking out people’s feet to see if they had it.

Now, believe it or not people actually had quite strong opinions toe cleavage. I started asking the question around the office, at the pool or just in random conversations with friends.

And what was the overwhelming response? Nay. Can you believe it? It definitely surprised me.

toe cleavageWhen I think toe cleavage I think sexy. Which may be why most of the guys I asked liked it…

This whole debate around toe cleavage intrigued me and got me to start looking around online about the topic.

Although a majority of people I talked to were against toe cleavage… Manolo Blahnik has quite a different opinion..“The secret of toe cleavage, a very important part of the sexuality of the shoe. You must only show the first two cracks.” (Manolo Blahnik)

And who can argue with him?

Shoe Jewerly: To accessorize or not?

June 27, 2009

So, do you remember the big “croc” phase? I am ashamed to say that I did buy into it and had a pair that my cat eventually ate… but that is another story.

I can proudly say that I never gave into the “jibbitz” phase. Do you remember those? They are the accessories for crocs. You can get all the different animals/flowers/sports logos and put them in the holes of the crocs to jazz them up. Cute for kids… not so much for adults.

Well I have come across a new fashion trend that resembles the jibbitz + crocs–Shoe clips.

absolutely-audrey-shoe-clipI came across the website www.absolutelyaudrey.com that designs and sells (online) shoe jewelry.  I have to say I am torn on my opinion of this.

I think that it could be an excellent way to change up the look of an old pair of shoes. It would be a great conversation starter. But, would I wear it to the office? I’m not sure.

I have never seen them in person, so I think I will have to get a pair to test them out.  I will keep you all posted.

What does everyone else think?

Props to ROLLASOLE

June 20, 2009

Ever have one of  those Why didn’t I think of that moments?

I have discovered one of the most ingenius ideas in the shoe world.

rollasole

A UK-based company, Rollasole, has created a shoe that can be purchased from vending machines in some of the UK’s hottest bars.

How many times have we wore hot shoes to the bars and by the end of the night have had to kick them off due to swelling, pain, or just plan having too much to drink?

Well if we were in the UK we could purchase a pair of these stylish ballet flats for only 5 pounds! These cute shoes come in 3 colours: back to black, gold digger, or silver lining–something sure to match any outfit.

But not only are these shoes cute and inexpensive…. they literally roll up, so you can easily throw them in your purse and use them again.

My question: How can we get these in Canada????

Why weren’t these around when I was a baby??

June 18, 2009

kaylanewWhen I first heard of this product I thought… well that is going a little too far…

BUT, after checking out the website and seeing the pictures. I think this is such a genius idea for shoe nuts like myself who would easily drop the money for this much-needed accessory for their daughter.

It also gets the daughter’s shoe addiction started at a young age–a marketer’s dream.

If You Can’t Rock ‘em

June 13, 2009
One of my biggest pet peeves may be a little ridiculous, but I always cringe when I see a girl stumbling around in shoes that she cannot walk in.

If you struggle to walk in heels at least practice before you wear them out in public–or opt for something that does not make you look like a giraffe on ice skates.

It is not fair to you, or the shoe. You do not just look foolish, but the shoes get attention for all the wrong reasons.
Instead of people thinking those are “super hot shoes,” they think “wow, those shoes look ridiculous!”

I understand that some people struggle to walk properly in high heels, but it is just practice.

One night a couple girlfriends and I tested this theory…

I had never seen one of my friends ever wear high heels for the years I’ve known her.

We forced her into a 1-inch pair of heels and made her walk around the apartment for a bit.

When we thought she mastered that, her heels were upgraded to a 2-inch heel. See a pattern here?

Well, we got her to about a 4 1/2 inch heel.

Did I mention by that time we had consumed a couple bottles of wine? Minor detail.

So we discovered that she couldn’t wear 4 1/2 inch heels… That’s why she doesn’t.

My point is if you can’t rock them, perhaps they could be an interesting conversation piece on your coffee table.

My Drug of Choice: SHOES

June 10, 2009

A good pair of shoes can make or break an outfit. We’ve all heard this, but that is just one reason that many women (and some men too) are addicted to shoes.

Hello my name is Lisa and I am a shoe addict.

Acceptance is a good step isn’t it? Well I accept that I am a shoe addict, but I don’t see a problem with it. There are many other addictions that are much worse than shoes… Say smoking? drinking? drugs?

Shoes are my drug. There is nothing better than sliding you foot into a good shoe and it fitting just perfectly.

As I was saying, there are many other reasons that we all love shoes.

The adrenaline that comes when I purchase a great pair of shoes is the a great feeling.

There is the smile that creeps out when the shoe is the perfect size; followed by the immediate “I’ll take it!” Before I can even think about it the box whipped away, dropped into the big bag that screams “I just bought awesome shoes at <insert shoe store of preference>” and handed to me by a smiling clerk saying “I’ll see you next time. Enjoy”

And they always do.
